Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your vacation to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet

CARBON REDUCTION
We are committed to offering low-impact vacations, which benefit the countries and communities we visit, as well as our travelers and the natural environment. We believe in the transformative power of travel and aim to minimise our ecological footprint by selecting eco-friendly accommodations, encouraging waste reduction, and supporting sustainable transportation options where possible.

This itinerary promotes lower-impact travel by exploring the Pyrenees on foot along its historic smuggling trails, established mountain paths, and rural tracks. Staying in Arinsal and La Seu d’Urgell provides you with opportunities to explore local villages and attractions on foot. At the same time, the use of shared transfers between walking stages can help reduce individual car journeys.

Hotel Princesa Parc in Andorra adheres to some environmental policies that cover resource conservation and biodiversity protection, including planting wildflowers to attract bees and butterflies. The hotel's buffet restaurant offers a wide variety of international, Mediterranean, and mountain dishes, and accommodation listings confirm that vegetarian and vegan dietary options are available.

Your second accommodaiton in Spain, Hotel Andria, places an emphasises seasonal produce, traditional Catalan cuisine, and the Slow Food philosophy, supporting regional food traditions and local ingredients.

ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
We operate a ‘leave no trace’ policy in national parks, archaeological sites, monuments, and other sensitive areas like beaches and coastlines; these should be treated with the ultimate respect to maintain them for future generations. Our tour leaders are trained to promote this message to our customers during the trip.

Our route passes through some of the Pyrenees’ most beautiful natural areas, including alpine meadows, pine forests, mountain streams and protected landscapes including Comapedrosa Natural Park and Sorteny Natural Park. Walking along established trails offers you an opportunity to appreciate local flora and fauna while minimising disturbance to sensitive mountain habitats. Travelers are encouraged to follow responsible walking practices, respect wildlife and leave these remote environments undisturbed.

LOCAL ECONOMY
We provide ample opportunities to explore the local area on foot, where you can shop for local wares and crafts and immerse yourselves in the destination's cultural heritage. To enhance your experience, your tour leader will be joined by a knowledgeable, well-qualified local guide for the duration of the trip. Along the way, you'll explore local markets, cafés, vineyards, and family-run restaurants, helping to support the local economy.

This vacation supports local communities through stays at regional hotels, visits to traditional mountain villages, and the use of experienced local mountain guides. Exploring Arinsal, Tor, Os de Civís and La Seu d’Urgell also creates opportunities to support local cafés, restaurants and businesses while discovering the region’s rich Catalan and Andorran heritage. Hotel Andria further supports regional food traditions through its focus on seasonal ingredients and traditional Catalan cuisine.

EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY & DIVERSITY
We are committed to responsible and sustainable travel practices that support both the local environment and surrounding communities. By selecting environmentally conscious accommodation, encouraging reduced waste, and prioritising sustainable transport where possible, we aim to minimise our footprint. Through respectful engagement and conscious travel choices, we strive to protect natural landscapes while delivering enriching and memorable experiences.

Our walking tours are thoughtfully designed to immerse guests in local heritage and culture, building meaningful connections with the places and people we visit - including the employment of local tour guides. As a company, we believe in workplace diversity and equal employment, with opportunities available to everybody regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation or nationality.
