Description of Transylvanian Alps trekking vacation
This trip can be tailor made throughout the year to suit your requirements
Our partners behind this vacation promote inclusivity on all their trips and across their business and we are all committed to ensuring travelers face no discrimination on any part of the trip they control.
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
PlanetThe tour is a private one, with maximum number of 4 tourists. In this way we reduce at minimum the impact on the environment. We collect all the garbage on our trek. More than this we collect the garbage left by some tourists in the glacial lakes (as much as we can carry in a such kind of hike, of course). We hardly use plastic for this kind of tours. Hiking most of the time in the alpine area, we do not interact with the wildlife, except the chamoix and the birds. It is very important to mention that we do not leave any food on the trail or nearby the tent for the animals (except some small pieces of bread for the birds) in order to feed them. We do not have to carry water in this trek, we have on our trails a lot of springs and glacial lakes with fresh water.
PeopleThis program we can call it "out of the ordinary" because is entirely made by tent (so no accommodation at the mountain huts) in the highest mountains of Romania - The Transylvanian Alps - Fagaras mountains. We spend most of the time in the alpine area, up to 2200 m where are not mountain huts or restaurants, only wilderness and some shepherds with their sheep. Only on the first and the last day we make a stop at a mountain hut, locally owned, for a home made lunch.
Part of the food we buy at the beginning of the tour is local produced or grown (eg. cheese, lard, onions, apples). We prepare and cook the food at the tent.
In this trek we meet tourists from all over the world. We could interact with them and explain our concept of sustainability and share with them our responsible policy for that kind of hiking tours. Because we are sleeping over in the tents, most of the time up to 2200 m, out of the mountain huts construction limits, we are not interacting with the owners and employees of those huts. The clients will have the feeling that they are hiking with a friend, our guides. Actually this is the main idea of that kind hiking tours: we cook together, we eat together, we share the experiences, we understand the beauty of the nature when you spot in the morning the beautiful chamoix - wild goats - which are protected by law in our country. On our way we have some shelters, where we can leave some supplies for other tourists who are in danger (bad weather catch them, without tents).
