This itinerary is entirely overland (departing and returning to Chengdu, visiting Wolong, Siguniang, Danba, Tagong, Litang, Daocheng/Yading, etc.) and contains no domestic flights - therefore avoiding aviation-related high carbon emissions. For inbound international clients we recommend direct arrival into Chengdu and minimizing additional domestic flights. Several highland guesthouses and homestays (e.g., Cloud Inn near Siguniang, Tagong/Danba homestays, some Ranwu/Litang hotels) commonly use solar water heaters and passive energy savings (local building materials, no AC in summer, towel/linen reuse). Larger resorts near Yading/Daocheng may have water-saving and waste-separation measures. This is a 6–10 person small group traveling together in a single 15-seat minibus for all transfers and long drives (Day1–Day13). Using one 15-seat vehicle instead of multiple cars significantly reduces CO2 per passenger. There are limited rail or electric mass-transit alternatives in these highland sections, so the shared minibus is the lower-carbon land option available. The itinerary includes multiple walking-based activities: soft hiking in Shuangqiao Valley (Siguniang), village walks in Jiaju/Zhonglu, and trekking in Yading Nature Reserve. Overall there are about 3–4 days with significant human-powered travel (short hikes/walks), reducing reliance on motorized short-distance transports. Guests are encouraged to use reusable bottles and utensils, choose vegetarian or mixed-plant meals where possible, avoid single-use items, reuse towels/linens at accommodations, and minimize/segregate waste. This itinerary is overland with no domestic flights, so the SAF option is not part of our package. Although electric vehicles are not used due to limited EV charging infrastructure in western Sichuan and alpine regions, the itinerary relies on a single 15-seat shared minibus for the whole group. This shared vehicle substantially lowers per-capita emissions compared with multiple cars and individual transfers. If EV infrastructure improves along the route, we will prioritize electric or hybrid vehicles. This itinerary does not include lunch or dinner (breakfast only). If guests require vegetarian or vegan meals they must inform us in advance. We will coordinate with hotels about breakfast options and instruct the local guide to locate vegetarian/vegan-friendly restaurants or arrange suitable meals at each stop. In short: vegetarian/vegan support is provided with prior notice, but lunches/dinners are not included by default. Mostly local and seasonal. Meals in Danba, Tagong, Litang, Daocheng/Yading and similar remote areas largely depend on local supply chains (e.g., highland barley, yak/beef, potatoes, seasonal vegetables, local dairy), which reduces transport-related emissions and supports local producers. However, there is currently no formal, standardized audit across all accommodations/restaurants for palm oil, soy, or timber sourcing, nor an institutionalized food-waste quantification system.

LOCAL ECONOMY
1. How many accommodations are locally owned? Are any notable (e.g., homestays)?
- Most accommodations are locally or regionally operated: e.g., Cloud Inn (Siguniangshan), Zongkar Homestay (Danba), Laga Pasture Homestay (Tagong), Litang Yalong Hotel (local hotel), and Vacation Inn Express (Daocheng/Yading—chain with local management). The mix favors local homestays and small operators; homestays channel revenue directly into local families and small businesses.
2. How do you maximize other local economic opportunities (local guides, craft markets, village visits)?
- We prioritize local services and procurement: hire local Tibetan guides/drivers (Danba/Tagong/Litang/Daocheng segments), visit Jiaju/Zhonglu/Jieba villages and local handicraft workshops (knife-making, thangka, copper casting), and use official local guides/concessions in reserves so tourism spending stays in the community. We also encourage guests to buy from certified local craft workshops or cooperatives.

1. What percentage of your staff or operating partners' staff are from this country or local communities?
- High: All drivers, most guides and guesthouse staff are local, many from Tibetan communities.
2. Do you create opportunities for marginalized groups (e.g., women, poor, disabled, indigenous)?
- Yes: Visits to nunneries like Yarchen Gar and local family-run workshops involve and benefit Tibetan women and traditional artisans.
3. Do you pay at least the minimum wage in this destination?
- Yes: All local staff and suppliers are paid fairly and at least the legal minimum wage.
4. Do you have a workplace diversity strategy (gender, race, orientation)?
- Yes: Local partners operate with inclusive hiring. The trip operator promotes non-discrimination and gender respect.
5. Is this trip LGBTQ+ friendly?
- Yes: The tour is inclusive and safe for LGBTQ+ travelers. Cultural sites are open to all.
6. Is this trip suitable for people with limited mobility, vision, hearing or cognitive issues?
- Not suitable: Due to altitude, rough terrain, and walking components, the trip is not accessible for those with significant mobility or sensory limitations.
