We make sure that we do not use any of our vehicles inside the National Parks. In order to visit Periyar National Park and its buffer zones, we strictly use the vehicles provided by the Forest Department. We do not engage in any of the activities that would harm the animals residing at the National Parks. There is an Elephant Farm in the are where travelers are allowed to ride the Elephant. We do not encourage our guests to go for this activity as there have been instances where local NGOs have spoken about mistreatment taking place to these animals. During the jungle hike, we use experienced guides who will make you aware about the jungles and explain how conservation efforts have helped not just the environment but benefited local tourism through employment opportunities.

We make sure that the hotels that we engage are Earth Check certified. This certification enables the hotels to create an internal Green Team which comprises the mid-management and the General Manager of the hotel. The houseboats used for the tour are best in class that follow environment guidelines stipulated by Kerala state authorities.

We encourage our guests to interact with local people to make them understand the day to day life and also give them a glimpse of hospitality of the people of God’s Own Country. We make sure to engage the services from the vendors who preserve and promote the heritage and authentic culture in their neighbourhood. Just to cite an example, we utilise the services of top Kalaraiyapayatu and Kathakali art performers so that they get employment and our guests get to experience these traditional forms of marshal arts and dance. For those interested in rural and food experiences, we have cooking class and spice tour designed through a local family in Periyar who will offer valuable insights about Kerala cuisine and culture. Such tours are a win-win as all the entities benefit. We also encourage and partner with the companies who have initiated the creation of Talent Pools for the neighbourhood youth, trying to make their life meaningful.
