Self guided walking
On a self guided walking vacation all of the logistics are organised for you, so you can concentrate on the fun.
Wales
Contrary to perceptions, Wales isn’t really that wet, at least not compared to its neighbours.

Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your vacation to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet

As a responsible tour operator, we ensure that we work with only local, independent partners to make sure we have a positive impact on the local communities and environment we visit.

On this guided walking tour, you’ll learn about native wildlife and wild plants that thrive in the rural landscape from Chepstow to Knighton. We ensure that our group sizes remain low so as not to have a negative impact on the environment.

Throughout the walking vacation, there will be as few transfers from the accommodation as possible to ensure the carbon footprint is as low as it can possibly be. In addition, we make sure guests use their reusable water bottles to refill each day of their tour to avoid the need to buy single-use plastic bottles. Guests are encouraged to take this practice away with them even after their trip, and continue to use their reusable water bottles instead of buying plastic bottles in future.

People

Local community is something we are proud to support on each and every trip. Finding employment in rural areas can often be a challenge in rural areas, with the high and low seasons making it difficult to find steady jobs. We try to avoid peak seasons as best we can so as not to put unsustainable pressure on the local infrastructure. Our group sizes always remain small so that guests can enjoy an authentic experience and most importantly, avoid adding to the commercial imbalance that over tourism can cause.

We encourage guests to support local businesses throughout their trip, such as the Bees for Development shop in Monmouth, selling handmade crafts to support beekeepers in the poorest communities.

Our guests are encouraged to visit the local pubs and use village shops for any supplies they may need for lunches. These rural businesses rely on regular trade, so it’s important to buy local goods whenever possible.
