1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

Hiking through the Sun Gate and down into Machu Picchu.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

Arrive in Cusco TWO days before the trip starts, to acclimatize to the altitude. One day wasn't quite enough for one of us. We were glad we had hiking poles, the Inca Trail features many steps and in particular downhill they made a real difference (for us older hikers with iffy knees).

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Yes, benefitted local guides/porters.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Great! The hike was reasonably strenuous because of the altitude but great to be up in the Andes and seeing Inca ruins.

CARBON REDUCTION

There are no private automobile trips or domestic flights included in this tour. You will spend the most of your vacation hiking to Machu Picchu, so you will need to rely on public transportation, trains, and your own two feet. This reduces the amount of CO2 released per person.

ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE

Our campsites are selected with care to minimize environmental impact. We adhere to Leave No Trace principles, practicing responsible waste disposal and minimizing resource consumption.

The money received from the admission fee collection goes directly toward maintaining and preserving Machu Picchu's historical significance, natural beauty, and cultural legacy.

Critical preservation initiatives, such as the preservation of the surrounding habitat, the upkeep of paths, and the restoration of historic buildings, are made possible in part by your admission fees. This guarantees that Machu Picchu will always be an amazing place for travelers to come.

Sustainable Tourism: You may help promote sustainable tourism practices by paying the entrance charge and visiting Machu Picchu in an appropriate manner. This lessens the site's impact on the environment, helps control visitor numbers, and preserves the site's integrity.

Research and Education: Entrance fee proceeds also support archaeological research and educational programs that deepen our knowledge of the background and significance of Machu Picchu.
