Our local partner in Kuusamo and Posio area called Korpi Gravel is strictly committed to environmental stewardship by minimizing the ecological footprint of our events and operating in harmony with nature. We actively support the regional economy by prioritizing local suppliers, caterers, and service providers for all our operational needs. Through these continuous efforts, we ensure our events contribute meaningfully to the local community while preserving the pristine natural environment.

ENVIRONMENT & WILDLIFE

The tour operator is certified by Biosphere and they do have Sustainable Travel Finland label. When choosing accommodation services in this case, we have paid special attention to the location, services, and
sustainability of operations.

Our guests will move around by gravel bikes which do not need electricity. However, we do have a service car as it is needed for safety reasons. For arriving in Kuusamo, we shall offer the guests an option to arrive by train and bus from Helsinki as well.

LOCAL ECONOMY

Our company does have a Biosphere certificate in line with the 2030 Agenda and the 17 SDGs of the United Nations and we also have the Sustainable Travel Finland label. The route for this gravel tour has been planner by a new, small, local company called Korpi Gravel. The owner Visa Pekonen is also guiding the group as he has a long experience in cycling in this district consisting of large wilderness areas. A local company provides the service car and on the way 7/8 accommodations are provided by local companies. Food served is local and we'll co-ordinate the menus so that our guests would be able to taste as many local dishes as possible and learn about local culture. The guests will also enjoy daily the Finnish sauna culture, also recognized as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage practice. They will meet Finnish people and be able to talk with them.

EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY & DIVERSITY


We use a local guide Visa Pekonen, who is a fresh entrepreneur. In each location and also on the way, we are using local services (wilderness lunches, dinners) provided by local micro companies, so we do bring employment to the wilderness areas.
