1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

Every day was an adventure. I can't say that any one day was the most memorable as the whole trip was beyond all of our expectations.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

Trust your agent. We had an endless list of places we wanted to visit in Namibia. After numerous emails and telephone conversations we left it in Josh's capable hands. He put an incredible itinerary together which ended up being one of the most memorable trips we have ever had.

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

We do.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Outstanding. This was a fantastic trip and one of the most memorable trips we have ever done.

CARBON REDUCTION

This self-drive itinerary travels around Namibia by vehicle, rather than by flying between destinations. A normal vehicle such as the Toyota Hilux (or similar) included in this trip can be shared by up to 5 people and larger vehicles are available for even bigger groups to share.

Human powered activities are available throughout the trip, including walking tours of the Namib Desert, kayaking trips in Swakopmund and nature walks in Damaraland and when staying on the Okonjima Nature Reserve.

ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE

A percentage of each booking goes into a fund to support a number of projects across Namibia, some of these are wildlife projects including the Desert Lion Conservation Trust and the Giraffe Conservation Foundation.

Etosha Oberland is part of the Ondili collection of lodges and every year, since its inception, the Ondili Group invests all of its profits in the establishment and maintenance of the Ondili Nature Reserves. For every guest room at the Ondili lodges, the Ondili Group creates at least 1,000 ha (10 km²) of nature reserve in Namibia and maintains the already existing reserves. All lodges generate their electricity and hot water through their own solar systems (except on cloudy days and during technical disruptions).

LOCAL ECONOMY

Our local partner in Namibia as always employed local people and takes great care in their career development and progression within the tourism sector.

Camp Kipwe partners with local famers in nearby villages enabling them to offer locally sourced food to guests. As well as this local farmers are also offered the chance to partake in workshops on how to develop more sustainable agriculture techniques and manage their crops as good as possible.

EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY

The local partner we work with to offer this trip have offered financial and logistics support to a number of charitable projects in Namibia since 2002 as well as mentoring start-up companies run by previously disadvantaged entrepreneurs. They also take on interns who are studying tourism, hospitality, finance, and business management.

In February 2023 the company also started a volunteer program, whereby every staff member spends one working day per month volunteering within our local community, at project including; SPCA Windhoek, Physically Active Youth, Hope for Life, National Library of Namibia and the Megameno Orphanage in Katutura.
