Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your vacation to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.
Planet
CARBON REDUCTIONWe carefully plans ground transportation to avoid unnecessary trips and backtracking.
All clients are given the option to use public and other shared transportation options at different points throughout the itinerary.
ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
We collaborate with hotels, restaurants, and operators that follow sustainable tourism priorities. This includes conservation of water & electricity, use of local products & materials, and employment of local workers.
Specifically in this program, our clients stay each night in hotels with an environmental sustainability policy and plan in place. This is especially important on the arid Peruvian coast, where water can be scarce.
We provide reusable water bottles and drinking water refills throughout the tour, and prioritize hotels that provide free drinking water refills to guests. Instead of box lunches and other packaged meals, our clients generally eat in sit down restaurants. This reduces the amount of plastic waste generated while traveling.
People
LOCAL PEOPLE, CULTURE & ECONOMYAll of our programs respect local traditions and culture, and work to incorporate as much local participation & knowledge as possible. Our staff is almost exclusively Peruvian, with local guides leading tours in each destination. We are a Peruvian company, and 100% female owned.
This program focuses on the diverse cultural heritage of Peru, throughout the country. We visit nationally protected archeological sites and follow all rules and regulations laid out by the government. We work to ensure that cultural artefacts are not sold or traded outside of local and international law.
EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY
We work exclusively with highly experienced local guides that speak English, Spanish and Quechua. This improves our client“s understanding and experience, and supports an endangered language (Quechua).
We work closely with local communities to develop unique, fun and safe activities for our clients. Partner community members set their own pricing, and are paid directly by the company (no intermediaries involved).
Along with our specifically community-based activities, we work with locals in other important ways. Our office staff is 100% Peruvian and female, predominately from Cusco. We pay living wages to all employees and benefits are provided for all full time workers.
We offer employment opportunities, including management positions, without discrimination by gender, race, religion, disability or in other ways.
Our ultimate goal is that locals benefit from international tourism. This includes getting our clients off the beaten path, where the economic benefits of tourism are normally much lower, supporting and honoring traditions, promoting the use of Quechua and respect for the language, and creating/participating in beneficial community projects.
