CARBON REDUCTION

We have designed this trip to keep travel efficient and lower impact while still offering a rich experience of both Egypt and Ghana.

Instead of multiple internal flights, the itinerary uses one main connection between Cairo and Accra. The rest of the journey takes place by road. Throughout the trip, you will travel together in shared vehicles, which helps reduce emissions per person compared to traveling individually. There are also opportunities to explore on foot, including walking through historic towns like Elmina and Cape Coast, as well as experiencing the canopy walkway in Kakum National Park.

We work with accommodations such as Conrad Cairo, The Pelican Hotel and Lemon Beach Resort, which are taking steps to reduce their environmental footprint through energy efficiency, water saving practices, and waste reduction.

In Ghana, meals are largely prepared using locally sourced and seasonal ingredients, which helps reduce transport emissions while supporting local farmers. Vegetarian options are available throughout the trip.

We also encourage travelers to make simple choices such as reducing plastic use and being mindful of energy and water consumption during their stay.

ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE

Nature is an important part of this journey, and we aim to experience it in a way that supports its protection. Your visit to Kakum National Park directly contributes to rainforest conservation through park entry fees and guided visits. Activities such as the canopy walkway allow you to experience the forest from above without disturbing wildlife on the ground.

The accommodations we use, particularly along the coast, are making efforts to reduce waste, limit plastic use, and manage water responsibly.

By visiting natural and heritage sites respectfully, the trip supports their long term preservation.

Our guides share practical advice on how to minimise your impact, including respecting wildlife, avoiding litter, and supporting responsible businesses. You will be accompanied by knowledgeable local guides who help you understand the ecosystems you are visiting and why they matter.

In Ghana, we prioritise locally owned accommodation such as The Pelican Hotel and Lemon Beach Resort, helping ensure that income stays within the community. Visits to places like the Accra Arts Centre give you the opportunity to buy directly from local artisans and support traditional crafts.

Throughout the trip, local guides share their knowledge and personal perspectives while creating meaningful employment.

Entrance fees to sites such as Elmina Castle and Cape Coast Castle contribute to their upkeep and the local economy. You will also have opportunities to interact with local communities in a respectful and mutually beneficial way.
