CARBON REDUCTIONS
Currently we only use flights that require 100 minutes flying time. In 2026 our flights will be replaced by a high speed electric train transport which will link Cairo, Luxor and Sham El Sheik.

In terms of the Nile Cruises we use Dahabiya which are wind powered craft
In terms of vehicle transport to the Giza Plateau and environs, electric buses are used for all people movement inside the Giza Pyramid Precinct. They are provided from the Department of Antiquities and Tourism.

Hybrid taxes are used from Cairo to Saqqara and all internal transfers and requested prior to departure. Walking at the site is the main activity.

Vegetarian and vegan mean available.

ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
The JW Marriott Hotel Cairo (the hotel we use) was the first hotel in Cairo to launch an advanced solar energy system, utilizing solar power to convert sunlight into electrical energy.

Marriott International's global "Serve 360" sustainability and social impact strategy, which includes goals to reduce carbon emissions and water intensity. The Cairo Marriott Hotel & Omar Khayyam Casino has received third-party sustainability certifications, such as the "Green Star Hotel" Program.

People

LOCAL ECONOMY
Local guides are employed as home hosts and their pay rates and certifications are sanctioned by the Department of Antiquities and Tourism. These are updated regularly and most recently in October 2025

Vegetarian and vegetarian meals are offered for lunch each day from locally owned restaurants enroute from venues. Meals on our sail boats use local ingredients purchased from local farms enroute and farmers who sail up to our vessels to sell their farm produce. This supports local communities.

EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY
All the staff employed are Egyptians and their certification and pay rates are determined by the Department of Antiquities and Tourism. We remunerate our guides directly and not through third parties.

Our Meet the People itineraries and the hosts in Egyptian villages are paid directly by us (separate from the DMC). And yes they are paid according to the rates determined by Department of Antiquities and Tourism. These rates vary depending on their certification level.

100% of the staff are Egyptians, with 60% approx women and 40% men. The ethnicity of the Egyptians include Bedouins and Nubians. The staff are drawn from local communities who live close to the sites we visit.

Our tours are suitable for people with limited mobility.
