CARBON REDUCTION

Walking along Via Transilvanica through Terra Borza Teutonica is, at its core, a return to a simpler, more mindful way of traveling. There is no rush here—just the steady rhythm of footsteps, the sound of forests, and the quiet presence of nature. By exploring this region on foot, we significantly reduce our environmental impact while allowing travelers to truly connect with the landscape. We sometimes use an electric car for transfers but this is not available at all times.

ENVIRONMENT & WILDLIFE

We follow established trails and embrace “leave no trace” principles, ensuring that the places we visit remain as authentic and unspoiled as we found them. Our guides gently introduce guests to the local environment—sharing stories about the forests, wildlife, and the delicate balance that sustains them. This awareness often transforms the way travelers see nature, turning a hike into a deeper understanding of why these places need protection.

By choosing a less-visited region rather than Romania’s crowded hotspots, this experience helps ease pressure on more fragile destinations while drawing attention to landscapes that deserve to be valued and preserved.

LOCAL ECONOMY

In Terra Borza Teutonica, tourism is not something distant or impersonal—it is felt in everyday life. When travelers arrive, they are not just guests passing through but are welcomed into homes, kitchens, and stories shaped over generations.

We work closely with small, family-run guesthouses where hospitality is sincere and deeply rooted in local culture. Meals are often prepared using ingredients grown nearby, and conversations unfold naturally, offering insight into traditions, history, and daily life in rural Transylvania. These moments of connection are not staged—they happen organically, creating genuine cultural exchange.

Each stay, each meal, and each service used contributes directly to the local economy. In a region where opportunities can be limited, tourism provides an important source of income, helping families remain in their villages rather than seeking work elsewhere. In this way, travel becomes part of sustaining communities, not just observing them.

More than anything, this experience fosters human connection. It invites travelers to slow down, listen, and engage with people in a meaningful way—transforming a simple journey into a shared experience that benefits both visitors and hosts alike.
