Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your vacation to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet

CARBON REDUCTION

On this journey, we skip internal flights, opting to travel overland through central Thailand to explore lesser-visited areas like Uthai Thani. Most city tours are walking tours, helping to minimize our carbon footprint while allowing us to fully experience local life and uncover hidden backstreets. In Sukhothai, we explore the ancient city by bicycle, taking a leisurely ride around the temples.

As a travel company we're acutely aware of our impact on the environment. Each one of our tours displays a carbon footprint, and we're working to reduce our emissions by regularly reviewing our itineraries and embracing lower-impact styles of travel such as trains, public buses or walking – which aren't just better for the planet, but we believe offer a more enjoyable and authentic travel experience too. We're a Certified B Corp that's committed to creating unforgettable adventures while protecting our planet for future generations.

ENVIRONMENT & WILDLIFE

Elephants are synonymous with Thailand's identity, but sadly over the years this image has been exploited with elephant riding and shows for tourists. We do not offer elephant riding on any of our trips, instead we choose to promote elephant tourism in a far more natural way. On this trip we visit the Elephant Nature Park, a place that allows elephants to roam around in their natural habitat, and offers no riding or shows. It simply provides travelers with the opportunity to witness these incredible creatures at home in a natural environment.

We strive to support nature and biodiversity through protection and regeneration projects, and for every customer that travels with us we make a donation to Rewilding Britain and Cool Earth. We encourage customers to avoid single-use plastic on tour, and our leaders give advice on refill points each day. Where tap water isn't safe to drink we recommend Water-to-Go bottles, a filtration bottle allowing you to drink water from any source.

LOCAL ECONOMY

During this trip, we engage with numerous local suppliers, directly contributing to the local economy. We dine at small, family-run restaurants, savouring seasonal, locally sourced food. One evening is spent in a homestay, where we connect with villagers, learning about their crafts and collaborative efforts to create a sustainable community experience. We stay in a traditional home, enjoying meals prepared by our hosts from locally produced ingredients. Over the past 20 years, the village has developed a cottage industry rooted in local traditions, established multiple homestays, and won awards for its community-based initiatives.

Our leaders are the heart of tours. They bring passion and unrivalled knowledge of the destinations and communities that we visit. Their guidance ensures we observe the cultural norms in a destination, they act as a bridge between travelers and the local community and ensure that tourism is a positive experience for both host and guest. We believe in supporting local; staying in locally-run hotels, exploring markets, buying snacks from street vendors, and by doing this we add money to the local economy and enhance our connection with the local community.

EMPLOYMEN, INCLUSIVITY & DIVERSITY

We partner with a locally owned and operated organization in Northern Thailand that provides employment opportunities for local communities across various regions. With over 25 years of collaboration, we have become one of their major partners, contributing significantly to their revenue and supporting their commitment to local employment.

We believe that diversity is to be celebrated and as a Certified B Corp we're committed to championing equity and inclusion throughout our entire supply chain. We believe that an inclusive approach is essential, and that the best results occur when contributors have different opinions, experiences and backgrounds to bring to the table.
