About this vacation company:
The founders led overland trips across the world in the 60s and 70s before creating this company in 1981. Today, it offers tours in 120 countries, but never lost that pioneering spirit of adventure.
Small group tour, ideal for solos & couples:
Small group travel is not large group travel scaled down. It is modelled on independent travel – but with the advantage of a group leader to take care of the itinerary, accommodation and tickets, and dealing with the language. It’s easy to tick off the big sights independently – but finding those one-off experiences, local festivals, traveling markets and secret viewpoints is almost impossible for someone without the insider knowledge gained from years in the field. Those with a two-week vacation, a small group tour will save valuable planning time.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
The day spent in Gythio and lunch at Pylos in a very nice fish restaurant.
All major archeological sites were truly memorable.
2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
Tips to the travel company?
Make the visit to Athens as an add on and optional and thus cut number of hotel changes.
Guides to Epidaurus and Mycenas.
Ensure members are fit to travel and not expecting the individual care of either other fellow travelers or the group manager.
3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Difficult to say. We were a well travelled group, respecting paths and wild flowers and polite to natives.
We contributed to restaurants.
4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
Interesting. Drivers employed and group manager very good.
Hotels could be reviewed to provide better quality and more space
The pickup and delivery from and to the airport reliable and much appreciated.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
Getting to Mycenae early enough to go straight to the top of the sight and having five minutes absorbing the atmosphere on our own.
2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
We had two extra nights in Athens because there was only one direct flight a week from where we live in France. This gave us time to see most of the extra sites in Athens not included in the tour, especially the Archaeological Museum. So we would recommend having extra time in Athens if possible.
3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
It used local hotels and transport companies.
4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Planet and people
The majority of accommodation we use on this trip is locally owned and in which you experience great food, much of which is sourced locally, and lovely wine. This not only provides direct employment within the hotel, but also has the effect of percolating money beyond to small businesses that supply the hotel and in this way money is spread throughout the region we visit.Our Tour Leaders are trained by us in the importance of responsible tourism with guidance given on how they can make a difference. This trip uses the services of a number of different suppliers, from the numerous restaurateurs, boat owners, guides and drivers, and our visit provides significantly more employment than on a more conventional ‘package vacation’. We try to reduce our impact on the environment by switching to public transport where a group is small enough to warrant doing so, but when using a chartered vehicle we specify our preference for a smaller, more eco-friendly bus.
In addition to the above, we are continually looking for ways to improve and are proud to be ‘Responsible in everything we do’. Education is key and so all staff, Tour Leaders and partnering suppliers are trained in responsible and sustainable tourism. At our Head Office, we continually strive towards a sustainable and planet-friendly working environment, including having solar panels installed and a company commitment to reducing our plastic usage. As well as this, we have valuable and longstanding partnerships with UK charities Toilet Twinning and Send a Cow, plus many smaller initiatives and projects around the world. We’re members of UK travel industry bodies Tourism Concern and AITO because we believe it’s important to share our knowledge and experience, as well as learn from other operators.
