Traveling with a local operator

This vacation is operated by a company based in the vacation destination and they will be able to provide expert local knowledge. They will be able to tailor make your vacation to suit your requirements not only concerning the dates of travel but also typically the standard of accommodation, and thus price. It is rare for local operators to be able to help with the booking of your flights.

Responsible tourism

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we screen every trip so you can travel knowing your vacation will help support conservation and local people.

Environment
Putting People & the Planet first.
Our vacations take place at carefully chosen little hotels owned by friendly local Spanish families who, together with our retreat team, employ only local people not just because they are local, but because they are the lifeblood of the area and bring local colour and information that you'll not find in guidebooks.

These lovely local people help our vacations come alive but, in the cold light of day, we realise that we/you help keep these families together as, without your/our support, they would most likely have to separate to find work elsewhere.

Recycling.
Ourselves & the hotels actively recycle cardboard , paper, plastic, cans and glass using special recycling containers which guests are encouraged to use too. In addition, guest bathrooms have large dispensers of toiletries rather than small plastic bottles which need replacing more frequently & would add to the amount of recycling. You’ll also have the option to re-use the towels & linen in your room which ultimately will save water, electricity, soap & labour.

Green Energy.
In addition to the use of low consumption light bulbs, the majority of the electricity comes entirely from the sun as our hotels have solar panels. There also have water saving devices fitted to all taps & toilets to help reduce flow & conserve water.

You'll be gently reminded to be mindful of your water & energy usage during your stay. Little things can make a big, big difference such as closing windows if using the air con, taking a shower instead of a bath, switching off lights when not in your room, opting to re-use your towels & linen and taking only what is needed at meal times to avoid food waste - you can always come back for seconds if you're super hungry!, and bringing a re-useable water bottle to avoid buying water in plastic bottles when you're here.

Retreat Dining.
We are blessed to have over 300 days of sunshine a year in this region of Spain and an abundance of underground fresh water springs originating from the awesome mountains nearby. This means we have a year round supply of locally grown sun ripened delicious Mediterranean fruits & veggies that we make good use of in our retreat menus that are predominantly plant based.
In addition, one of our retreat hotels has partnered with a local olive oil producer who uses traditional methods to produce the most delicious organic oil that we use in our menus. Plus, our local town of Altea hosts an annual Eco Fair bringing together local artisans to share their knowledge and products through educational workshops, tastings & demonstrations which of course helps to raise awareness of sustainable living methods.
Community

The Impacts of this Trip

Giving back:
By coming on our retreats not only do you help support local families & their businesses but you may also like to know that you are enabling us & our hotels to support a number of charities that help local families & individuals through practical & financial support.

Organisations such as; Corazon Express that provides local families with food, practical & financial advice, the local Rotary Club & Red Cross both of whom provide humanitarian aid to the most vulnerable in our communities together with donations to local animal rescue centers who rely completely on donations to continue their work of rescuing, caring for & rehoming animals.

Local Culture:
We encourage guests to explore & immerse themselves into the Spanish way of life by dining at local restaurants & cafes, visiting the weekly markets and buying gifts from local artisans and producers. And, if there’s a local festival … everyone’s invited to immerse themselves and taste the Spanish love for fiestas!

Ultimately, through all our actions we aim to support local communities and leave a footprint that is as light as can be.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

The cycling trip in the mountains was the highlight for me. The yoga lessons and pilates lessons were also great.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

If you are looking for an easy going yoga trip with lots of lovely plant-based food and superfriendly people, this is your thing. Nothing is too forced on this trip:
for example, things like coffee or wine are available, but it's also easy to stay off them if you want. Nicole is an absolutely wonderful hostess who makes sure
everyone is doing well. Also they make sure to offer the yoga and pilates on every level. I didn't quite know what to expect before, but was so pleasantly
surprised with this lovely vacation.

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Yes, in pretty much very aspect of the vacation there were local people involved. Wether it was with the beauty treatments, the cycling trip or with the food on
the (optional) night out.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

I give it a 10 out of 10! I had an awesome time and would surely do this again.

Great yoga and pilates classes

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

As the leader said 'this is a yoga vacation not a yoga retreat'. if you want asceticism this may not be for you, if you want some comfort with your exercise this is a great combination.

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

A local and very Spanish family hotel which seemed to employ local people, made it feel like we were contributing to the local economy positively.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Excellent, just maybe not quite long enough!

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

The super yoga and pilates classes and the lovely 12k coastal walk.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

The taxi from Alicanti to Denia was expensive at 120E, but was much quicker than a 2 hour bus trip where you have to take one bus to Benidorm, wait there half an hour and take another bus to Denia, cost about 20E, but alot of hassle traveling on your own.

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

definitly benefitted local shops and resturants

EXCELLANT

Read the operator's response here:

Thank you Lorna for taking the time to leave your feedback, we really appreciate you taking the time to do this. We are so pleased the yoga, pilates & coastal walk were the highlight of your Yoga & Pilates Vacation. It was really lovely to have you here with us. We just wanted to leave a response to your comment re. the cost of an airport taxi as we wanted other guests reading this review to know that you opted to arrive a day before the vacation began & so missed our airport transfer service that operates on our vacation dates. Any guest who'd like to extend their stay have the choice of the local bus or tram at €20 or a private taxi to our yoga hotel.
