As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
PlanetWhen you travel with us you will be helping to reduce rubbish and pollution from our country, land, sea and waterways. We promote minimal impact walking, as well as we encourage everyone to carry out their rubbish and pick up any rubbish left by others. With water we realise this is a precious commodity. We encourage recycling where it is practical and make sure our clients know how precious it is and we encourage them not to not waste it. In our office we recycle our water as well as all waste products. We have a worm farm that turns all our water and waste products back into water which we can use on our garden to produce healthy home grown produce, and so the cycle continues. We also have a self sufficient solar electricity system that produces more power than we need, putting green power back into the grid. We encourage be green, read on the screen so as to reduce paper. This overall helps to save the trees thus helping the environment. In the office evrything is recycled from, plastics to ink cartridges. Walk with an eco certified Company that enjoys what this planet has to offer and wants to make sure the generations to come can enjoy as well.
PeopleWe stay at locally owned accommodation places that also support eco tourism such as Rawnsley Park Station. It is is owned and managed by fourth generation Flinders Ranges’ residents and are active members of the South Australian tourism industry, the managers are passionate about the Flinders Ranges and the tourism opportunities it presents. They were one of the first tourism operators in South Australia to gain official ecotourism accreditation and are also interested in developing the 'geotourism' sector, which involves understanding how the earth was formed.
Committed to environmentally responsible and sustainable tourism, they have entered into a Heritage Agreement with the South Australian Department of Environment and Heritage in order to protect the diverse vegetation of Rawnsley Bluff. Their substantial financial investment into the new Rawnsley Park eco-villas is further evidence of this commitment.
We incorporate quality local tourism experiences into our walking vacations. Our tourism experiences include bush tucker walks with indigenous people and tours of historic areas and aboriginal sites. We eat at local restaurants who use local staff and where possible buy from local food outlets.
We support local adventures that help create a better environment in the National Parks so as we can preserve and protect our natural environment and the wildlife that exists within it.
