Walking the trail was very hard in places, but so well organised that it was a great sense of achievement to complete each day and the trail itself. When we got to the Sun Gate above Machu Picchu we arrived in a lot of low cloud which took the edge off it, however we walked on a bit further and got a great high level view of the lost city so we were more than happy with this.

It was a perfect vacation... The lodging was excellent nestled in greens with lots of hiking and biking trails to choose from, all meticulously planned out by the owner Peter. Food was superb, prepared by Carolyn, Peters wife who ran the place immaculately. We had a fantastic time staying in Samoens... The walking was amazing at this time of year: alpine meadows, wildflowers, waterfalls, and glacial landscapes, and not too challenging: we ranged between 500m and 970m ascent in a day. We went rafting on the Giffre on our day off, which was also great.

Stunning views and dramatic scenery each day; the most memorable was probably walking down the hillside near Kotor with the backdrop of the mountains and the bay in front.
Tips?
Try to arrive early on the day of travel to orientate and do the first walk.
Be self-sufficient - we did not see any other walkers one day and only 2 another and a similar number of cafes! Carry LOTS of water - we ran out when one descent took much longer than expected.
