Multi activity vacations in Spain travel guide

Our multi activity vacations in Spain don’t just skim over a place – they give you a real feel for it. Our vacation partners have spent years forging friendships with local activity guides who know all the best mountains, canyons, rivers and lakes of regions as varied as the snowy Picos de Europa and the sunny shores of Andalucia. They also know how you can throw yourself into them happily and safely.
Expect passionate guides and an array of activities in some exceptional environments. Every day is different.
Not only do these vacations support local activity providers, but they also give travelers a chance to get to know the culture and nature of often rural areas of Spain while trying something new. From canyoning, white-water rafting, mountain biking and abseiling to flamenco dancing, cooking classes and language lessons – you can choose your own adventure (and adrenalin levels) before settling down for an evening of tapas and stargazing on the veranda.

What are multi activity vacations in Spain like?

Activities led by expert guides

A lot of trust goes into these vacations – after all, you’ll be flinging yourself into canyons and perhaps trying things like horse riding for the first time. The people who design our multi activity vacations to Spain only work with excellent and experienced guides, so you’re in great hands.

Equestrian centers will match you up with a horse or pony with a temperament that suits you (Red Rum or Eeyore?), and guides expertly get you on via ferrata and canyoning routes that you might have thought beyond you. Local guides know the lie of the land and how to guide you safely through the terrain, while caring as much about the environment as you do.

Multi activity vacations in Spain can include…
White-water rafting Canyoning and caving Cycling and mountain biking Hiking and via ferrata Kayaking and paddle boarding Wild swimming Flamenco and Seviliana dance lessons Cooking classes Horse riding Stargazing Archaeology workshops Village and city tours Snowshoeing Food and wine tasting

Tailor made vs. small group trips

Tailor made trips can be amended to your likes and dislikes, dates and budget. Small group trips, meanwhile, give you a set itinerary… although even that can often be tweaked a little if you fancy a day off – just ask. Pick ‘n’ mixing activities is a great way to keep costs lower. After all, taking a dip in a mountain lake and self guided walking doesn’t cost a euro.

Great for families

Most multi activity vacations to Spain are great for families, from solo guardians with kids to multi-generation bonanzas. Hotels will include family rooms and itineraries can be tailored to suit your brood’s needs. Most activities are suitable for all, but occasionally you might need to check weight limits (for white-water rafting, for example) and whether accommodation includes suitable family rooms.

Expect vegetable patches and olive groves in the hotel grounds and menus made with oregano, honey and saffron from the market.

Comfy hotels with eco credentials

Our activity hotels in Spain aren’t just places to lay your weary head after a day of leaping around canyons and plunging in lakes. In the Pyrenees, you can stay in a restored 17th-century farmhouse-turned-guest house, where the family hosting you actively supports the bearded vulture reintroduction in the region by donating to charities and taking you out on wildlife walks.

Some of these accommodations might technically be off-grid – such as a country hotel that burns olive pits for heat in winter and relies on the enviably reliable Andalucian sunshine for solar power. But they still come with all the trappings – swimming or plunge pools, sociable dining areas, TV rooms and sometimes even little luxuries like rain showers. Rooms can often be adapted to your needs too, whether that’s because you have tots in tow or accessibility requirements.
