Planet
The lodge is located beside Anangucocha Lake, within the ancestral lands of the Kichwa Añangu community. It was developed with the involvement of EcoEcuador, a non-profit organisation focused on conservation in Ecuador.Wastewater from the lodge is treated before being discharged, with the system intended to reduce impacts on the surrounding wetlands. Solid waste is minimised where possible. Organic materials suitable for composting are composted, while waste that can be safely burned or buried is treated accordingly. Remaining waste is transported to designated landfill sites. Electricity for the lodge is supplied through a combination of solar panels and diesel generators.
People
Revenue from the lodge provides financial benefits to the Kichwa Añangu community, supporting its involvement in conservation and land management. Community members participate in the management and protection of more than 52,000 acres within Yasuní National Park and are involved in the operation of the lodge.The community's conservation activities include efforts to reduce pressures on the surrounding forest, including logging, commercial hunting and oil extraction. Through its involvement in tourism and conservation, the lodge provides an economic activity linked to the protection and management of the community's ancestral territory.
