Reviewed on 21 Jun 2019 by Charles LouisEvery day was wonderful. Probably the best walk was on our 3rd day when we walked up to the castle and then down and up again to the monastery and then on the way down walked with a herd of cows who seemed to enjoy our company. Read full review
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
PlanetThe destinations which we included in this program are very reach with Armenian monasteries, forests, caves and waterfalls. These places are the most beautiful and fragile parts of Armenia. You can find many sites preserved by UNESCO, ancient monasteries, large vineyards, mysterious caves etc. During our Walking tour tourists will visit Dilijan National Park and Arpi Lake National Park which provide for normal ecosystem development, landscape and biodiversity conservation, as well as protection of historical and cultural patrimony of Armenia.
Obviously, a walking tour consists of being outdoors a majority of the time. Our tourists will soak up plenty of Vitamin D from the sun, and their lungs will be filtering fresh air instead of polluted city air.
Modern cars, if kept in good condition, produce only quite small quantities of the air quality pollutants, but the emissions from large numbers of cars add to a significant air quality problem. So this tour will give an excellent opportunity to travel around our country without using cars for whole day and by this to reduce the level of air pollution.
Water is vital during this tour. This means that our tourists should have at least 2 bottles of water every day, but it is not necessary to have with them plastic bottles. Plastic bottles contain Bisphenol A (BPA), the chemical used to make the plastic hard and clear. BPA is an endocrine disruptor which has been proven to be hazardous to human health. It has been strongly linked to a host of health problems including certain types of cancer, neurological difficulties and so on. So we suggest our tourists having with them bottles from hard material like steel rather than a plastic bottle. Not to mention the fact that Armenia is famous for its fresh drinkable delicious water so you wonít have a problem of finding a natural springs during your tour.
But in case of use plastic bottles, we offer an optimal way of action. There are special trash boxes for plastic bottles in Armenia. Bottles of that boxes pass a manufacturing process, which give an opportunity to save our resources.
PeopleWe are sure that our tourists will give a huge impact to the local communities while getting acquainted with their daily life. This gives a chance both to the tourist and local people to meet each others cultural differences. We always encourage our tourists to visit local markets, buy souvenirs and local products from local stores.
In this tour our tourists overnight in the guesthouses or B&B owned by local people. While staying there, they will have the opportunity to try local cuisine there and will have an impact to their development too.
Nowadays many houses that are located in the villages as well as guest houses and B&B try to set solar cells in their roofs, which are electronic devices that convert direct sunlight into electricity. This method helps them to save electricity.
The tour has a small group size, maximum 10 participants, as the routes are not intended for larger groups. And this means that it causes a very low impact to the environment. Another advantage of having a small group is that it helps to stay in a family run.
