PlanetWe love our planet and we are going to do everything we can to protect it. The farm we run is organic, so all chemicals have been banned.
We recycle everything we can from water to food.
Our electricity comes from the sun, and so does the hot water. We separate all materials and take them to specific places where they can properly dispose of them, even if this means driving for one hour.
We think a lot about saving: especially water and electricity and do our best not to throw anything away, that's why we put reductors of water on all showers, and all our lights turn off automatically.
Most of the food that people waste can be converted in good food for our pets, or our sheep and hens.
We hardly use any plastic and use eco detergents only.
Walking is a great and substainable way of traveling so we encourage this as well as cycling. We always advise our clients to take public transport rather than hiring a private driver. We know it's just a small contribution but at least we are trying hard.
PeopleWe are part of a very small community, so it is very important for us to support it. Shopping locally is our philosophy, even if it means paying a higher price, or having to go back several times to different places. It takes more time and more effort but it is so rewarding too. All the food, except for very few things, is produced locally.
We try to buy regional wine and beer only. We get eggs and meat from local suppliers and cheese is only bought directly from farmers. We love taking tourists to local wineries and food farm, and organizing food and wine tastings for them. We always privilege those products which risk to disappear because they require too much work and high costs of production, like saffron and some old varieties of cereals and beans. Everyone should only use seasonal products as they are the ones that can be purchased within short distance.
Cycling and trekking give tourists a unique opportunity to get in touch with the farmers, and to make stops and shop locally. We always encourage our clients to have contacts with farmers, and artisans, as they love talking about their job and themselves, and you learn a lot.
We just employ locals to work in our farm, or to clean the rooms, and even the taxi driver is a small local business. By showing tourists our small area we hope to help it to survive.
