This trip is built around spending longer in fewer places, getting around under your own steam and flying only when we need to. You'll hike, bike and kayak rather than rely on car or boat trips, and you'll spend more time in each area of natural beauty.

We keep domestic flights to a minimum. Any flights on the itinerary replace journeys that would otherwise take at least 12 hours by road, so this trip causes fewer emissions than a more traditional "highlights" package.

We choose independent, locally owned accommodation. Our guides are trained to balance tourism with looking after the local environment. On the trails, that means taking all rubbish out, sticking to marked paths and keeping a respectful distance from wildlife.

People

We give each region plenty of time, which spreads the benefits of tourism more widely. Nearly two weeks are spent in the Lake District and southern Patagonia, so you can explore beyond the usual circuit. Our local guides are community-focused, highly trained and well paid. We avoid international chain hotels and large cruise ships, and choose independent, locally owned properties instead.
