Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.

Our small ships run on Marine Diesel Oil, unlike larger ships that use non refined Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO) which is non-refined, polluting and highly toxic. Additionally, Regular maintenance for each ship of our fleet takes place twice a year, a practice that is extremely important in reducing fuel consumption.

Single-Use Plastic Reduction: One of our guiding principles is to positively impact the areas in which we explore. That is why we are proud to have successfully completed a single-use plastic reduction program across our entire fleet, minimizing single-use plastic items. Such items include straws, stirrers, cups, lids, bottled water, among other items, as well as items wrapped in plastic; single-portion items such as butter cups, jams or yogurts. Our goal is to completely eliminate single-use plastics on board all our vessels.. Our hope is that our actions will prompt other cruise operators to do the same.

We are the first cruise line to sign up to the Tourism Declares Climate Emergency initiative, which exists to enable everyone in tourism to implement the Climate Action Plans needed to halve sector emissions by 2030.

On this sailing our Wine expert will introduce you to Vineyards which are changing the face of Greek wine making. On Tinos you will visit Volacus, where the focus is on small yield and organic farming methods, making the wines sustainable and ensuring no damage is done to the unique ecosystem the local micro climate promotes.

On day two of the cruise you will visit the Semeli Estate, a certified Carbon Neutral Winery. Here there is consistent investment in modern processes, with an emphasis on energy efficiency. The protection and promotion of the natural environment are the guiding principles for all activities, from the production of grapes to the export of our products, and from the provision of wine tourism services to the training of our staff.

At Semeli there is also a strong focus on the harmonious coexistence and the development of sustainable economic and social ties with the local communities. The Corporate Social Responsibility activities are in collaboration with local public and private bodies, our neighboring communities and the families of the winery's employees.

People

Our cruise itineraries take us to small islands which are not often visited by large cruise ships, and are designed to have minimal impact on local societies and ecosystems, without compromising our product quality or the guest experience.
Our cruise directors are familiar with the islands we are visiting, and they are always there to introduce you to the local producers and the traditional places to visit.

5 euros from each booking is designated to the 'Variety Cares' foundation which supports initiatives striving for clean oceans, gender equality, and education for all, creating a better world at sea one cruise at a time. Projects supported by Variety Cares include beach clean ups, investments in local schools and charities, arts festivals and more. Our guiding principle is to 'Create a Better World at Sea', which means looking to deviate away from areas of over tourism, sourcing goods locally for use on board and above all ensuring that we have a positive impact on the destinations we visit.
