Travel guides

Rwanda
Rwanda has three vital aspects that tourists flock to see: people and culture, national parks and gorillas!
Wildlife
The perfect introduction to getting your head around the extraordinary life on earth, and where to go to find it.

Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your vacation to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet

We provide reusable water bottles to avoid the use of single use plastic bottles that are dangerous to the environment and are a source of too much waste which is can not be disposed of in the national park.

Whatever waste generated on safari (which is minimal), is kept in the vehicle and later disposed of by the tour guide at the end of the trip. We do not leave any waste in the national park.

We work with lodges that are concerned about water use. We encourage travelers to avoid water wastage when in shower and to consider re-using their bedsheets and towels instead of daily changes.

People

We employ local guides on this safari. They have grown up in Rwanda and live in Rwanda. They earn a living guiding tourists to the park and are champions of conservation in their circles. They help start conversations with fellow locals about the need to conserve wildlife and often share the opportunities for locals to engage.

When on the Kigali city tour on either the first day or last day of the tour, you will visit the genocide memorial, local market and local craft shop. Here you are able to purchase and support locals who make crafts that they sell in these shops. Most are made by cooperatives from Kigali and from all over the country.

On the drive from Kigali to Akagera national park, you often stopover for coffee and rest room use. The café you stop at is locally owned and employs locals. They source their coffee from local farmers and also have crafts you can purchase.
