During this course, we adhere to strict guidelines in order to protect the natural environment we work in. These include:

No Touching or Harassing Wildlife:
Participants must not touch, chase, ride, feed, or otherwise disturb any marine animals, including but not limited to fish, turtles, sharks, rays, and invertebrates.

Maintain Neutral Buoyancy:
All divers and snorkelers must demonstrate and maintain proper buoyancy control to avoid contact with the seabed, coral, or other marine life.

No Collecting or Removing Items:
Nothing may be removed from the marine environment, including shells, rocks, coral fragments, or living organisms. Take only photographs and leave only bubbles.

Avoid Fragile Areas:
Avoid diving, swimming, or anchoring near sensitive habitats such as coral reefs, seagrass beds, and sponge gardens.

Minimize Flash Use:
Excessive use of strobes and flash photography can stress marine life. Use artificial lighting sparingly and avoid blinding or repeatedly flashing at animals.

No Baiting or Luring:
The use of food, bait, or any attractants to manipulate animal behavior for photographic purposes is strictly prohibited.

Be Patient and Passive:
Allow wildlife to approach naturally. Do not corner or trap animals for a better shot.

Avoid Obstructing Natural Behaviors:
Do not interfere with feeding, mating, or resting behaviors for the sake of photographs.

We prioritize working with South African-owned businesses and service providers, including accommodation, transport, dive operations, and catering. The lodge used for this course is locally owned, and all staff employed are local. By supporting local employment and sourcing goods and services from within the region, we aim to ensure that economic benefits remain within the community.

Participants are encouraged to support local artisans, guides, and businesses during their stay. Whether purchasing souvenirs, enjoying local cuisine, or participating in optional excursions, we ask that guests consider the impact of their spending and choose ethical, sustainable options that respect cultural heritage and environmental stewardship.
