Planet
In Southern Xinjiang, where the Taklamakan Desert dominates the landscape, water is the most precious commodity. Our "Planet" strategy focuses intensely on water conservation. We carefully select accommodation partners in Kashgar and Korla that demonstrate a commitment to sustainability, such as those using low-flow showerheads and responsible linen washing policies. During our desert crossings, we educate guests on the ancient wisdom of the "Karez" irrigation systems and the importance of modern conservation. To minimize our physical impact on the desert ecosystem, we strictly enforce a "no single-use plastic" rule, providing large 5-gallon dispensers for water refills throughout the journey. Furthermore, our itinerary includes paid visits to the Tarim Poplar Forest parks. The entrance fees we pay contribute directly to the conservation of these vital "desert guardians," which act as a natural barrier against sandstorms. By supporting these parks economically, we help incentivize local authorities to continue protecting these natural buffers rather than clearing them for agricultural expansion, ensuring the desert ecology remains balanced.People
Southern Xinjiang is the cradle of Uyghur culture, and our mission is to celebrate and sustain its rich heritage. We focus specifically on supporting the masters of the "Twelve Muqam," a UNESCO-recognized musical tradition. Rather than watching staged performances in tourist parks, we arrange intimate, private sessions with hereditary Muqam masters in their homes or studios. We pay these artists directly, ensuring they are fairly compensated for their years of dedication and can afford to teach apprentices. In the realm of craftsmanship, we take guests to the traditional paper-making workshops and pottery kilns of the Yengisar region. By facilitating direct sales between our guests and these artisans, we inject vital capital into these family-run businesses, which are often threatened by cheap, factory-made alternatives. Finally, our guides for this region are selected for their deep knowledge of Silk Road history and archaeology, ensuring that the culture is presented with the depth, respect, and academic rigor it deserves, fostering a genuine appreciation among international visitors.Popular similar vacations
