Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your vacation to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.
Planet
CARBON REDUCTIONWe are committed to offering low-impact vacations, which benefit the countries and communities we visit, as well as our travelers and the natural environment. We believe in the transformative power of travel and aim to minimise our ecological footprint by selecting eco-friendly accommodations, encouraging waste reduction, and supporting sustainable transportation options where possible.
Our walking tours are also designed to immerse participants in the local culture, fostering meaningful connections with the communities we visit. We strive to leave a positive impact by engaging in responsible tourism activities, respecting local customs, and contributing to the preservation of natural landscapes. Through our commitment to responsible travel, we aim to create enriching experiences for our guests while actively contributing to the conservation of the destinations we explore.
Travel around Lanzarote is designed to help reduce carbon impact, using a combination of shared transport and public services to minimise emissions. The short 15-minute transfer from the airport to the hotel keeps travel time (and environmental impact) low, while readily available taxis offer an efficient and affordable option for those arriving independently.
ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
Our walking programme offers a low-impact way to explore Lanzarote, following well-established paths and traditional routes that help preserve the island’s natural landscapes while minimising environmental disturbance. By traveling on foot and visiting small villages such as Uga, Maguez, Ye and Teguise, walkers naturally support local cafés, shops, and restaurants, contributing directly to the island’s economy. At the same time, these routes immerse you in Lanzarote’s unique culture, from the volcanic vineyards of La Geria to historic trading paths and whitewashed villages, which creates a deeper, more meaningful connection with the region.
People
LOCAL ECONOMYWe provide ample opportunity to explore the local areas on foot, where you can shop for local wares and crafts and immerse yourselves in the rich cultural heritage of the destination. To enhance your experience, as well as your tour leader, each vacation will be accompanied by a well-qualified and knowledgeable English-speaking local guide, who can offer insight into the destination and the local people and culture.
Hotel Lancelot offers a varied buffet with plenty of vegetarian choices and accommodating options for vegan guests, including plant-based items at breakfast, and flexibility to cater to dietary needs on request. Breakfasts and dinners are included, with the first three evenings at the hotel and the rest spent dining in local restaurants - perfect for experiencing Arrecife’s food scene while supporting the local economy. Lunches aren’t included, but supermarkets and local bakeries offer plenty of fresh, convenient options.
EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY & DIVERSITY
We are committed to responsible and sustainable travel practices that support both the local environment and surrounding communities. By selecting environmentally conscious accommodation, encouraging reduced waste, and prioritising sustainable transport where possible, we aim to minimise our footprint. Through respectful engagement and conscious travel choices, we strive to protect natural landscapes while delivering enriching and memorable experiences.
The tour has been thoughtfully designed to immerse guests in local heritage and culture, building meaningful connections with the island and its people - including the employment of local tour guides. As a company, we believe in workplace diversity and equal employment, with opportunities available to everybody regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, or nationality.
