Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your vacation to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.
Planet
CARBON REDUCTIONWe are committed to offering low-impact vacations, which benefit the countries and communities we visit, as well as our travelers and the natural environment. We believe in the transformative power of travel and aim to minimise our ecological footprint by selecting eco-friendly accommodations, encouraging waste reduction, and supporting sustainable transportation options where possible. Most of the tour is explored on foot, with only essential local transport (private coaches, public buses, and inter-island ferries) being used for transfers, helping to keep your carbon footprint low while still providing convenient access between Fuerteventura and Lanzarote.
This walking tour offers a truly eco-friendly way to explore two of the most beautiful Canary Islands, with most travel on foot along established trails, volcanic landscapes, and protected natural areas, including the UNESCO Biosphere reserve on Lanzarote.
The H10 Ocean Suites and H10 Hotel Tindaya in Fuerteventura are eco-conscious, Biosphere-certified hotels that follow sustainable practices, including energy and water savings, waste reduction, and support for the local community. Both offer vegetarian-friendly menus, with some vegan options available. Hotel Lancelot in Lanzarote provides basic vegetarian choices, with breakfasts and dinners included. Dinners are taken in the hotel for the first three nights and in local restaurants for the remainder of the week.
ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
We operate a ‘leave no trace’ policy in national parks, archaeological sites, monuments, and other sensitive areas like beaches and coastlines; these should be treated with the ultimate respect to maintain them for future generations. Our tour leaders are trained to promote this message to our customers during the vacation.
On this lovely walking tour, guests will get to experience the islands’ unique wildlife, endemic plants, and pristine beaches, making every step both environmentally responsible and culturally enriching.
People
LOCAL ECONOMYWe provide ample opportunity to explore the local areas on foot, where you can shop for local wares and crafts and immerse yourselves in the rich cultural heritage of the destination. To enhance your experience, as well as your tour leader, each vacation will be accompanied by a well-qualified and knowledgeable English-speaking local guide.
This walking tour directly supports the local economy by encouraging visitors to explore rural villages, historic towns like Betancuria, where spending on accommodation, food, and local services benefits small businesses and communities. By traveling on foot through protected landscapes such as Timanfaya National Park and visiting places like Isla de Lobos, the tour promotes sustainable tourism that helps preserve the natural environment, as well as creating ongoing economic opportunities for local guides, transport providers, and conservation initiatives.
EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY & DIVERSITY
We are committed to responsible and sustainable travel practices that support both the local environment and surrounding communities. By selecting environmentally conscious accommodation, encouraging reduced waste, and prioritising sustainable transport where possible, we aim to minimise our footprint. Through respectful engagement and conscious travel choices, we strive to protect natural landscapes while delivering enriching and memorable experiences.
