CARBON REDUCTIONInside Iguazú National Park you ride the Tren Ecológico de la Selva, which runs on battery-electric locomotives. Panoramic Grand Hotel is certified under Argentina's Hoteles Más Verdes scheme, and its environmental commitments include efficient lighting, monitoring energy use and separating waste. Its restaurant, Doña Flor, serves regional Argentine, Brazilian and Paraguayan cooking, and all your meals there are included. PortoBay Rio belongs to a group that encourages towel and bedding reuse at every hotel. In Rio, the suggested lunch at Aprazível uses organic and biodynamic ingredients from across Brazil, and Corcovado and Sugar Loaf are reached by train and cable car.
ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
Iguazú National Park covers 67,698 hectares and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1984. Visitors move through it on a train and elevated walkways, and the Upper Trail is where you may see caí monkeys and groups of coatis. The Gran Aventura is a shared boat ride, so one boat takes several guests close to the falls, and on the Brazilian side a 1,200-metre walkway lets you see the falls on foot.

LOCAL ECONOMYThe suggested lunches on Days 3 and 8 are at Don Julio in Buenos Aires and Aprazível in Santa Teresa, and the guides in Iguazú and Rio are provided locally. The three hotels, CasaSur Palermo, Panoramic Grand and Porto Bay Rio, put overnight spending into Buenos Aires, Puerto Iguazú and Rio de Janeiro. Day 3 is a free day to go back to La Boca, where tango dancers perform in the street, and Day 8 is free to explore Santa Teresa, a hillside neighbourhood of colonial buildings and cobbled streets.
EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY
The Iguazú days use catwalks and a train, and the Brazilian side has a 1,200-metre walkway, but the trip involves boat boarding and some uphill access in Rio. Your guide takes you to the airport on Day 6 for the flight to Rio, and the Day 5 boat ride is shared. Mobility needs can be accommodated when discussed before booking.
