Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your vacation to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.
Planet
CARBON REDUCTIONOur company was founded with a simple yet powerful motto: "If there is magic on this planet, it is in water." This statement reflects our mission to preserve Croatia's rivers by keeping them free of dams while demonstrating their commercial viability without compromising their natural beauty and wildlife.
We offer one-way trips starting and ending at locations with international airports, eliminating the need for short domestic flights. Croatia's extensive network of buses and ferries ensures safe and convenient domestic travel.
Benefiting from ample sunlight, many of the accommodations we use have embraced solar panels as an alternative power source. Taking a step further, we're pioneering the installation of solar panels and electric motors on our catamarans. Additionally, we're developing floating solar-powered battery chargers for use by island residents to charge electric boats and vehicles.
Human-powered activities such as kayaking, cycling, hiking, paddleboarding, rafting, and sailing have always been central to our trips.
We prioritize comfort and sustainability, transitioning our vehicles to electric and hybrid models. Currently, we operate one hybrid and two electric vans for short transfers and extended multiday tours.
Our tours offer vegan, vegetarian, and other dietary options, with an emphasis on locally sourced food. Eggs, fruits, vegetables, and wine served during our trips are sourced directly from local suppliers in the areas we operate whenever possible.
ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
We collaborate with accommodations that implement eco-friendly practices such as using rainwater tanks for garden irrigation. On our boats, we have separate water systems to conserve freshwater for drinking, while seawater is utilized for dishwashing. We prioritize environmentally friendly and cruelty-free detergents and enforce recycling measures on our catamarans.
As we employ many young workers in communities that are otherwise aging, we work closely with local governments and business partners to water plants on both private and public surfaces. This effort aims to enhance the authenticity and beauty of the environment.
Furthermore, we actively engage in the BlueBag initiative, encouraging travelers to collect trash from remote beaches and coves.
People
LOCAL ECONOMY We prioritize locally owned accommodations for all our trips. These typically include cozy bed and breakfasts, homestays, and occasional hotel stays. Our commitment involves paying our local partners a fair price for their services, offering them better terms than what global booking platforms provide, which have unfortunately dominated many regions. Additionally, we strive to hire locally and collaborate with local vendors for any services we don't offer ourselves. EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY Our workforce primarily consists of local employees, and we're dedicated to fostering a positive work environment and providing excellent employment opportunities. Croatia has seen an influx of foreign workers seeking better prospects, but they often face exploitation and substandard living conditions. We stand against this trend by offering comfortable accommodations and fair treatment. Our office staff comprises mostly women (80%), while our field team maintains a balanced mix of male and female employees. We ensure that our wages exceed the minimum requirements and provide quality accommodation and meal options for our staff. While this trip may accommodate individuals with limited mobility, vision, or hearing, we recommend they travel with a companion for assistance.Popular similar vacations
