Vacation information

Trip type:
Small group. Max 13 people. Min. age 15.
Solos:
Solos welcome. Surcharge for own room.
Accomm:
Small, locally owned guest houses.
Included:
Accomm., transport, Algarve beach excursion, bodega tour, Fado performance, guided walking tour in Fes.
Meals:

Small group tour, ideal for solos & couples:
Small group travel is not large group travel scaled down. It is modeled on independent travel but with the advantage of a group leader to take care of the itinerary, accommodation and tickets, and dealing with the language. Its easy to tick off the big sights independently but finding those one-off experiences, local festivals, traveling markets and secret viewpoints is almost impossible for someone without the insider knowledge gained from years in the field. For those with limited time, a small group tour will save valuable time in planning, and on vacation.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?
From Salamanca in Spain to Coimbra in Portugal to the end of the experience in Marrakesh, all was just beautiful and nutritius. I keep great memories of the trip, thank you!
2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?
To avoid thinking the modern part of Fes will look alike all over the country. This idea made me take a bad decision to avoid staying longer in Marrakesh which I would very much enjoyed. Stay longer in Marrakesh and do the Sahara!!
3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
I felt we really did not give enough importance to local people, for instance when going to buy artisan we allways went to big places who actually hire the work
of local people yes but not buying directly to the one who makes the product. I would encourage to ask your clients going to Marrakesh to avoid taking pictures of cobras, snakes and monkeys in the market in the plaza. This is so harmful for this animals!! they suffer so much by passing from one hand to another.
4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?
I loved it!!. I wish I could stayed connected to you to decide the trip to the dessert!!. Next time, for sure. :)
Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
Planet
We use public transport throughout this trip, not only minimizing the environmental impact of our journey but also creating concrete opportunities to interact with the locals. You'll contribute directly to local economies and help develop cross-cultural understanding. In others words, enjoy a real life experience. We provide all our travelers with specific information about how to be a responsible traveler on this trip. Our group leaders are passionate about responsible travel. Taking these small steps, we're able to make a big difference. And that goes for the whole trip experience too. Our travelers get the chance to meet local people and really get to know their culture first hand.
Those who wish to contribute further after their travels can do so through the our company's foundation which supports environmental and social projects, making a difference to communities around the world. In 2007 the foundation donated over £100,000 to make a difference in local communities in terms of health care, education, human rights, child welfare and in environmental and wildlife protection in all our destinations worldwide.
Wherever we go in the world, we take a responsible attitude with us. That means traveling in a way which both respects and benefits local people, their culture and the environment. We travel with an average group size of just 10 people and mostly take public transport.

We stay and eat in small-scale locally-owned establishments. In keeping with our Responsible Travel policy you will stay in carefully selected locally-owned accommodation - we put your money into the local economy and small businesses, not state-owned companies or corporate chains. In Marrakesh we have the option of visiting the SPANA animal hospital which is a charitable organisation providing free health care and education for animals and their carers in the Marrakesh region.
