CARBON REDUCTION

Snowshoeing is a low-impact way to explore the mountains, using only human power and requiring no mechanised equipment. Guests spend their days walking through the Alps on snowshoes, reducing the environmental impact compared with many other winter activities.

We encourage guests to consider lower-carbon travel options, including traveling to the Alps by train where possible. We select small, locally run accommodation rather than large international chains, favouring properties that demonstrate environmentally responsible practices such as renewable energy use, recycling and energy reduction. Some of our accommodation partners use solar power for hot water.

The trip also supports local food producers by including regional cuisine and stops at local restaurants and mountain establishments, helping reduce food miles while celebrating Alpine traditions.

ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE

Our snowshoe walks take place in fragile mountain environments, with local guides sharing their knowledge of Alpine habitats, wildlife and conservation. Guests learn to identify animal tracks and signs, including those of chamois and wild boar, and gain a deeper understanding of how wildlife adapts to winter conditions.

Some walks enter Ιcrins National Park, a protected area where conservation projects have helped safeguard habitats and support species such as ibex. Traveling on snowshoes with expert local guides allows guests to experience these landscapes while minimising disturbance to nature.

LOCAL ECONOMY

This trip supports mountain communities by creating an alternative winter tourism activity beyond traditional skiing. We use local guides and instructors who live and work in the Alps, ensuring tourism income stays within the region.

We also support small village businesses by including stops for local lunches and drinks along the routes, helping remote communities benefit from responsible tourism.
