Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your vacation to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

CARBON REDUCTION

Our Wolf Tracking Vacation is based in a remote area of the Southern French Alps, where participants travel on foot for the majority of the experience. By exploring the mountains without motorised transport once in the field, the trip offers a low-impact way to discover this remarkable landscape.

We encourage guests to travel by train wherever possible and can help organise onward travel from local stations. As a Travelife Certified tour operator, we measure the carbon footprint of our vacations using Carmacal and contribute to Mossy Earth rewilding projects on behalf of every guest. We also reduce paper consumption by providing travel information digitally through our smartphone app.

ENVIRONMENT & WILDLIFE

The focus of this vacation is understanding and appreciating wolves in their natural habitat without disturbing them. Rather than actively seeking close encounters, participants learn to identify tracks, signs and behaviours while respecting the needs of this elusive species and the wider mountain ecosystem.

Led by experienced local guides, the trip follows a responsible wildlife-watching approach, minimising disturbance to animals and encouraging Leave No Trace principles throughout the journey. Along the way, you'll also discover the rich biodiversity of the Southern French Alps, home to species such as chamois, ibex, marmots, golden eagles and a wide variety of alpine flora.

LOCAL ECONOMY

Your vacation supports rural communities in the Southern French Alps by using local guides and sourcing accommodation, food and services from independent businesses wherever possible. Staying in a traditional mountain refuge and purchasing supplies locally helps ensure tourism provides year-round benefits to these remote mountain areas.

EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY & DIVERSITY

The vacation is led by experienced local mountain and wildlife guides whose knowledge of wolf ecology, tracking techniques and the local environment brings the experience to life. By working with local professionals and small businesses, we help support skilled employment while promoting a greater understanding of the challenges and importance of conserving wildlife alongside the people who live and work in these mountains.
