From the Bararumba Afro-Cuban dance performance in Baracoa, to the "noche de salsa" in Santiago, we were enthralled by Cuba. The western portion of the tour took us through beautiful countryside, but since it is so accessible from Havana, it tends to be more touristy- especially Vinales.

We really enjoyed the Badada Codina hike - in Sierra Escambray. The hike was 3-4 hours... Our guide was great - telling us stories about the nature we were seeing, but also about herself and the people living in the mountains... Tips?
The exchange rate in cuba is not good for Americans so bring extra money
as you can't use cards.
Local benefits?
I hope it benefited them. I know they appreciated the tips. The single use water bottle issue will be a problem quickly as the infrastructure probably can't handle the amount of tourists.

First and foremost would have to be our group of people that we were with to see this beautiful island. Also Mickel, so informative & a great caring new friend. After being able to travel this beautiful planet over the years, Cuba is a beautiful, peaceful, wonderful place to see. The country side, the food, the music & the beautiful people.

I am particularly interested in the arts, so found these particular visits very rewarding: Las Terrazas community and artist collective; a visit to a live-in camp for young artists in several arts disciplines--dance, music and visual arts; and the community of Fusterlandia, built around the work of Fuster, which is a bit like Hundertwasser in Vienna. Also, the knowledge imparted by our guide of Cuba's history was very enlightening.

We loved Havana - it's a vibrant place with live music on every street corner and in every bar. Wandering around the streets in old Havana both during the
day and in the evening was great and there is lots to see -lovely squares, colonial buildings, palaces, museums, cathedral, harbour plenty of old American
cars........ It was good just to find a cafe or bar and watch the world go by.
