There were so many memorable moments it was brilliant. Seeing tigers and leopards, staying in the most amazing room at Nadine's Haveli, traveling on the sleeper train visiting the elephants at Jaipur, the holi festival in Jaipur, the living fort at Jaisalmer, the camel ride, meeting so many lovely friendly and helpful people. (more)Graham Meadows
Very hard to choose from so many truly wonderful and diverse experiences. Generally, we'd say the unexpected opportunity to meet - and to spend some real quality time getting to know and learning from - a variety of local individuals was especially gratifying. Truly outstanding and quite unusual. Stimulating, challenging, and fun. Extensive opportunities to explore an incredible variety of stunning historical and cultural sites. (more)Janice McGuire
Great moment: Sitting in a rooftop cafe with a view of the Taj Mahal, hearing the call to prayer from lots of mosques competing with each other, and having our beer stolen by a monkey (more)Julie Cigman

My stay at the Wild Mahseer in Assam was very special. Great hospitality, beautiful lodgings and interesting environmental projects. (more)Liz Mcmanus
I have told the vacation provider that they do a great job . (more)Joel Montague
The most exciting part was not on the original programme. We asked Rajat to give us somewhat more nature and less culture. He arranged for us to spend a day and two nights in a resort on the Kabini Lake, across from the Nagarhole National Park. On a boat safari at dusk, amidst myriad birds and beasts, we saw a male tiger emerging muddily from the river, slinking into the jungle. (more)Robin Fox

Tailor made Rajasthan tour, India
From

Memorable parts? History and culture. I enjoyed the amazing hotels we stayed in that were beautiful locations and historical. Tips? Due to distance between locations, ensure there are two nights at every hotel. There is significant time spent driving (in a car) between each location. If flying from Delhi during December / January be aware of fog delaying / cancelling flights. Local benefits? We visited local communities (e.g. Bishnoi, Samode) but not sure how it benefitted... For us the nature based activities and birdwatching were tremendous. We had some really good guides and got to see tigers and a leopard which is very rare. The people, the culture and the environment were very exotic to us. (more)Dianne Reidy
Seeing the Taj Mahal at Sunrise is an unforgettable event in our lives. Many special rare species of birds seen on our Birding Himalyan tour...Superbly organised. (more)Michael Clark
The bird watching was excellent...Bird guides were very good too, and all knew their local birds. However outstanding was Sunil (Kumar?) in Nainital. His excellent English made our outings a great pleasure (more)Jacky Davis

India family vacation
From
US $1,281

Memorable parts? There were many memorable experiences - our rickshaw ride through the Dehli markets was definitely a highlight....what a culture shock! The noise, smells, heat and totally manic traffic dodging around cows in the streets is imprinted on the memory. Seeing the rural life in Rajasthan was amazing - how the locals live in their mud houses, working on the land by hand, and how friendly the people were to us. Staying in a Maharaja's palace was an experience. Seeing the Taj... (more)Janine Jackson

Memorable parts? We traveled as a family and moved every couple of days so ever day brought something new and was memorable. What was exciting about this vacation was learning about other cultures and meeting people living in a variety of different ways. But as a family, the favorite experience was riding an elephant. Tips? Take plenty of hand sanitiser for when you are out and about and some toilet rolls too. Food is very cheap, eat out! Don't eat at the Sandesh Prince hotel in... (more)Gentian Bolt
Chhattisgarh to Orissa tour in India, tribes and villages
From
£1,700

Memorable parts? Every day we did something new and our hosts Saurabh and later, Sunny, always had a surprise in store! Though it's hard to choose one particular part (because the entire experience was amazing), the memories that will always stay with us - without needing to look at the photos - were the day-to-day interactions and chance meetings that we were fortunate to have with the local people. From watching people go about their daily business, to joining in their celebrations, we... (more)Heidi Fuller
Cycling vacation in the Maikal Hills, Central India
From

Memorable parts? My wife and I went on this trip with our 17 year-old son. Even as seasoned travelers to India, we would never have been able to do this trip on our own because this part of central India really doesn't have much tourist/traveler infrastructure. Cycling from village to village was absolutely fantastic. Our wonderful guide, Saurabh, based in Raipur, was not only brilliantly organised and wonderfully knowledgeable about wildlife, architure, people, plants, birds, customs etc.... (more)Jonathan Drori

Highlights have to be the Puri ceremony at the temple at Bhoramdeo (not for the feint hearted). The abundance of amazing home cooked, freshly prepared, organic food. The local market at Neur, which was beautifully vibrant and colourful. The train ride was a great experience...it was all fabulous! (more)Rosy Everitt

Most memorable was the Taj Mahal. It's everything it's claimed to be. A remarkable building that shows little sign of age. We visited in the afternoon then went back at dawn. It's well worth two visits (more)Sally Wylie
Tadoba National park tiger safari, India
From

The most memorable moment was staying at the lodge, in the buffer zone, listening to the night around a bonfire with wonderful snacks and a gin and tonic, then visiting the local villages on a walk the following day. The jungle safaris were amazing particularly the elephant back experience and of course seeing the tigers. (more)Julia Killick
The most memorable was having the most amazing Tiger sightings. Superb, we had a great time and enjoyed both Tadoba and Kanha national parks, the lodges we stayed at and saw some amazing wildlife and birds too. (more)Jo Gaunt

There are so many great memories of the vacation, that will live long in the memory. (more)Philip Hesketh

A brilliant first time experience of India for a family. Safe but still experiencing the full life of India. (more)Sarah Griffin

It would be impossible to identify a single highlight- there were so many! Seeing so many leopards, the Asiatic lions, the nesting hornbills, saving a Blackbuck fawn from a pariah dog, the simply superb staff, some truly amazing dishes we tried and people we encountered- simply too much and many to mention. (more)Clive Freemantle
Best bits: Being in amongst the crazy traffic and not having to drive...seeing wild leopard in Gir...seeing a bridal party in all their finery...seeing the contrast between wealthy and subsistence living. (more)Susan Holdsworth
We really enjoyed the vacation....To enter through the gate of the Taj Mahal at dawn with only 8/10 people in front of you. What an amazing place! (more)Evert Versteeg

The tea plantations are photogenic in a very special way: so impossibly green in the sun. Walking in the forests near Periyar was like being in heaven: in the shade, beautiful birds, no other people around and with a knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide. (more)Christopher Smith
The vacation could not have gone any smoother and our thanks to Thomas for recommending the wonderful Graman Homestay for a break before our bird watching trip began. We more or less just sat in the garden and relaxed whilst Jos and his wife looked after us and gave us some wonderful food. Different Kerala dishes every day. (more)Christopher Wyeth
Many memorable parts - wonderful bird watching trips, cycling in the backwaters, relaxing and enjoying the Keralan food and scenery. (more)Moyra Williams

Snow Leopard tracking in the Himalayas
From
£2,395
excluding flights
Memorable parts? Actually being able to watch snow leopards in the wild - the main aim of the trip. We spent nearly 50 hours watching interaction between several different cats including hunting and mating. Tips? Make sure you have good telescope, binoculars and camera lenses. Even if you don't see snow leopards, they are needed for the birdlife. Suggest getting a solar powered charger for electrical equipment - they don't weigh much and work really well. Have a care if you suffer... (more)Liz Cooke
Kerala walking, culture & wildlife vacation, India
From

Memorable parts? There are so many very special moments, but we feel that this vacation enabled us to become involved with local people and their culture that we couldn't have achieved independently. We also enjoyed the combination of nature, wildlife and city attractions. Tips? This tour offered so much more in reality than can be described in a brochure. Local benefits? Certainly we interacted and used local people as much as possible. Overall rating? Excellent, all... (more)Amanda Eley
South India cycling tour, coast to coast
From
US $1,900

Memorable parts? The experience of cycling through rural India, meeting and reacting with the local people. Even a local police sergeant bought us all breakfast when we met him one morning. Tips? A reasonable standard of fitness is required. We were a group of 9 men with ages ranging from 54yrs to 67yrs. Take a good pair of padded cycle shorts. Local benefits? We stayed at lovely boutique hotels and staff were employed from the local area. Also used local roadside stalls for... (more)Bob Stunt
Rajasthan tailor made tours
From
£3,390

Memorable parts? The Taj Mahal has to be the most iconic visit. Having to get in the queue for the 6 o'clock opening was "different", but really worth it. Back to the hotel in time for breakfast AFTER visiting the Taj is something I shall be slipping into most conversations I have in the near future! Next was the 3 days in Jaipur where I felt like a princess being waited on hand and foot. Bed tea was lovely and sipping gin and tonic while watching a charming puppet show could have been part... (more)Liz Mitchell
Rajasthan art history & architecture tour
From
£706

Memorable parts? There were two big parts of our vacation: the culture and the nature. From a cultural perspective, we learned so much about the history of various cultures within Rajasthan. The forts we visited (Mehrangarh, Roopangarh, Amber) were amazing, but the highlight was definitely staying at Jog Niwas, where our host/organizer Shanane Davis lives. She taught us so much about patronage and connoisseurship, sharing with our whole family a remarkably vast knowledge about textiles, art,... (more)Robert Macauley
Kerala & Tamil Nadu mountain biking vacations, Western Ghats

Memorable parts? We just returned from our customized cycling tour of Kerala India. We have been on a few good cycling tours in Europe but they could not compare to this extraordinary vacation. We were treated like royalty and so respectfully from the minute we were picked up at the airport until we departed. We wanted an active adventure and that's exactly what we had. We were enchanted by Kerala. The people we met while cycling on the roads as well as those we met in the accomandations... (more)Debby Zweibach

Hard to mention one thing! We were incredibly fortunate to have had some stunning tiger sightings, but that aside the trip that Saurabh and our tour operator put together was out of this world. Absolutely 5 star. 10 out of 10. We were completely blown away by everything that was done for us on this trip. (more)John Nixon

Memorable parts? Although we did have extra days booked through our tour operator, a day trip to Agra to see the sights including the Taj Mahal, 2 day stay and safaris at the Corbett National Park and a stay in Naini Tal which were all wonderful the main part of the vacation which was walking and staying in the villages of the Binsar Forest Reserve in the foothills of the Himalayas was really memorable, the people were very welcoming, we got invited to a traditional wedding which was great...
