Memorable parts? The highlight of the trip for me was always going to be South Georgia, which has fascinated me for years and entirely lived up to my very high expectations. What a stunningly beautiful place! We were extremely fortunate as we approached the island because there was no cloud cover and we could see the full magnificence of the snowy peaks in all their glory - a rare occurrence apparently. During three whole days around this incredible island, we made a numerous landings and... (more)Roger Bilder

Memorable parts? Seeing a mother polar bear and her two cubs walking on the ice floes walking along them then diving in and swimming to the next one. The cubs following on behind her. Fabulous! Tips? Be warm but also have some smart casual clothes to wear in the evening. When inside of the boat you can be relatively warm - have those layers for going out on deck where it can be cooler but you can watch the midnight sun or enjoy the on deck BBQ. If you want good photographs make sure... (more)Susie Barrett

Memorable parts? All of it! The extremes of weather, the diversity of animals, the quality of the accommodation and facilities, and something you can't plan for - new found friends! Tips? Don't set your heart on seeing anything specific. Be prepared for the changes in weather. It's not as challenging as I expected - to take account of the huge spectrum of ages and abilities. But most of all HAVE FUN! Local benefits? Not so much the local people, though we did buy a lot... (more)Lisa Thomas

The whole trip was amazing, but I loved the whales and penguins the most! Go for it! Antarctica is truly special place! Be prepared for the high possibility of rough sea while passing through the Drake! That was really rough on our way back but it was worthy!! (more)Eva Pekarova
There are so many highlights that it is impossible to sensibly list them all. I would say the sheer majesty of the Antarctic landscape stands out along with the opportunity to be really close to wildlife such as penguins, seabirds and seals. (more)Nigel Wingate
The highlight was the vegan meals. (more)Emma Smith-Bodie

Memorable parts? Seeing the interplay between the animals, icebergs, glaciers, sea and sky. Tips? First: TAKE THE TRIP TO ANTARCTICA. It is unforgettable. If Miami is not on a direct route to Buenos Aires, fly there directly.Be sure to bring the right clothing. Being out on the water or a hill is COLD with the wrong clothes. Spend as much time on the bridge of the ship as possible. Go to all of the lectures. Meet new people Local benefits? No people to benefit in Antarctica. However,... (more)Stephen Kohn

Memorable parts? Being "on the water" was exhilarating! When the weather was good, it was glorious, and when the weather was stormy, it was exciting. Tips? Miminize luggage. Storage space is modest. Layers are necessary. Don't forget the rain gear. Be flexible. Much of the itinerary is dictated by weather and tides. The vacation providers office staff are very kind to help with arrangements. Try to take time before/after the cruise to visit Oban and Tobermory. Lovely towns. Local... (more)Sue Ellen Christensen

Memorable parts? Whale watching up close in Magdalena Bay Tips? Be prepareed for hiking on un inhabited islands, snorkelling, kayaking etc Local benefits? Most produce on the boat locally sourced. Memorable parts? Seeing the ribbon seals, the northern right whale and the spoonbill sandpiper. Tips? Be prepared for lots of walking on the tundra. Also understand that the ship does not have stabilizers so even a mild swell rocks the ship. Bring a good layering system as temperatures and ice conditions can vary greatly. Local benefits? Supported conservation and the spoonbill sandpiper project. I suppose that we provided some income for the people in the towns in which... (more)Marian Herz

Memorable parts? Snorkelling with a group of feeding manta rays for about 40 minutes. Unforgettable. Tips? Take a few days on either side - go to one of the local islands. Actually - take the days beforehand, as it's hard to imagine anything living up to the boat trip (bearing in mind that we'd never been on a snorkelling trip or anything like this, so we can't compare). Local benefits? All of the above to some extent. Guide was very aware of environmental impact, we also... (more)David O
