Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
Planet
CARBON REDUCTIONOn Croatia Sail Adventure we have reduced internal flights and the flight between overnight stops as the entire trip is mainly onboard a boat or using a minivan.
We use alternate methods of transport such as kayaking, bike riding and of course walking.
We also provide information to travelers in our Welcome Chat on the first day about our #smallchange initiatives and how they can reduce their carbon footprint on their vacation. We have a partnership with Skyscanner in which travelers can view their emissions by flight.
Vegetarian and vegan food are available at every stop on the trip to accomodate for the growing need for sustainable lifestyles.
ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
We plant 10 trees for every booking we receive. Protecting and preserving the beautiful destinations and natural beauty we visit is one of our highest priorities. We've partnered with Eden Reforestation Projects to help protect, preserve and rebuild the natural world. We plant 10 trees for every INTRO Travel booking made.
By hiring local villagers to plant trees in Nepal, Haiti, Indonesia & more, Eden Reforestation Projects are helping replant forests, restore animal habitats and reduce poverty and we are proud to support them with your help.
Before, during and after Croatia Sail Adventure, we provide information and travel talks about #smallchange and responsible travel. This way we can educate people in traveling responsibly. These include reducing their single use plastics and picking up any rubbish they may come across.
Travelers are encouraged to pick up any trash in the water of Dubrovnik whilst they are kayaking or at any of the swim stops on the trip. Just like you, we want to protect our oceans, waterways and marine life, so you’ll often find us and our awesome travelers collecting rubbish as we go.
To help reduce single use plastics and promote reusable alternatives, we encourage everyone to bring or buy a reusable water bottle. A water refill station is available on all boats we use so travelers can fill up their bottles without having to buy a plastic bottle.
Before traveling, we advice everyone to bring a reusable water bottle, however we have branded bottles to purchase for those who don't have their own. We also have branded tote bags available to help reduce the need for plastic bags when shopping.
As well as promoting and practicing sustainable travel, we conduct regular eco-audits on all our trips and suppliers to ensure we’re consistently minimising our impact on the natural environment.
We understand that travel is a privilege, so we seek to create a positive impact in every destination we visit. Established in 2017, Small Change is our socially conscious initiative that helps us do just that.

LOCAL ECONOMYDuring Croatia Sail Adventure, we use all local suppliers for our activities, such as the kayaking in Dubrovnik.
We make sure we dine out a family owned restaurants and not chains to boost local economy and provide business for locals. Travelers are also given the chance to shop at many local markets. This means that money is being used to support the local economy, and going direct to the locals. Every one of our trips includes a variety of #smallchanges that you’ll get to experience first hand.
Our guides, transport providers and local team are provided with extensive training, support and benefits that go beyond just fair remuneration. They have the opportunity to not only show off their local area, but develop their guiding skills through our comprehensive training program. They also are given the opportunity to move to other destinations and expand their knowledge and skill set.
As opposed to being a cultural observer, our trips are designed to help you understand and respect local cultures, traditions and ways of life. Through sharing knowledge and understanding, we ensure that your travels are mutually beneficial for both you, and those you are visiting.
EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY
Everyone employed by INTRO Travel for this trip are paid higher than minimum wage. The crew employed on each of our boats are all Croatian and also paid higher than minimum wage.
We have workplace diversity strategy in place to nurture equal employment without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation or nationality and well as ensuring this trip is LGBTQ+ friendly.
The trip is suitable for people with limited mobility, vision, hearing and cognitive issues - depending on the nature and extent of the condition or impairment.
