Planet
CARBON REDUCTIONOn our Croatia Sail Adventure, travel between destinations is primarily by boat, with minivans used where required, reducing the need for additional internal flights during the trip. Travelers also have the opportunity to explore destinations by kayak, bicycle and on foot.
At the start of the trip, travelers receive information about our Small Change initiative, including practical ways to reduce their environmental footprint while traveling. Through our partnership with Skyscanner, travelers can also view information about the estimated emissions associated with their flights. Vegetarian and vegan meal options are available throughout the trip for travelers who choose them.
ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
As part of our Small Change initiative, we support a range of environmental and community focused projects. In 2019, we partnered with Eden Reforestation Projects to plant 10 trees for every booking received. Since late 2023, we have also worked with Path Net Zero to measure the emissions associated with our tours and with Veritree to support verified tree planting projects.
Before, during and after Croatia Sail Adventure, travelers receive information about our Small Change initiative and responsible travel practices. This includes guidance on reducing single use plastics, respecting local communities and wildlife, and helping keep beaches and waterways clean. Where safe and appropriate, travelers are encouraged to collect litter they may come across during activities such as kayaking or at swimming stops.
To help reduce the use of single use plastic bottles, refill stations are available on all boats used throughout the trip. Travelers are encouraged to bring a reusable water bottle, and reusable INTRO branded bottles are also available to purchase. Reusable INTRO tote bags are also available as an alternative to disposable shopping bags.
We conduct regular environmental reviews of our trips and suppliers to help identify opportunities to improve environmental practices and reduce impacts where possible.
Established in 2017, Small Change is INTRO Travel's responsible travel initiative, focused on supporting local communities, environmental practices, cultural exchange and education, and animal welfare.
People
LOCAL ECONOMY During Croatia Sail Adventure, we use all local suppliers for our activities, such as the kayaking in Dubrovnik. We make sure we dine out a family owned restaurants and not chains to boost local economy and provide business for locals. Travelers are also given the chance to shop at many local markets. This means that money is being used to support the local economy, and going direct to the locals. Every one of our trips includes a variety of #smallchanges that you’ll get to experience first hand. Our guides, transport providers and local team are provided with extensive training, support and benefits that go beyond just fair remuneration. They have the opportunity to not only show off their local area, but develop their guiding skills through our comprehensive training program. They also are given the opportunity to move to other destinations and expand their knowledge and skill set. As opposed to being a cultural observer, our trips are designed to help you understand and respect local cultures, traditions and ways of life. Through sharing knowledge and understanding, we ensure that your travels are mutually beneficial for both you, and those you are visiting.
