This walking tour based in Lanjarón offers a low-impact way to explore southern Spain, with most experiences centerd on relaxed, guided walks through villages, valleys, and along the Costa Tropical. By prioritising our time on foot, we reduce our reliance on transport and allow a more immersive connection with the landscape and local culture. Travel is kept efficient, with a single transfer from Málaga Airport and only short journeys between locations.

We eat breakfast and most dinners in the hotel. The hotel prides itself on good-quality, imaginative local cuisine with vegetarians and special diets expertly catered for. The restaurant is open to non-residents also and is popular with people from the surrounding villages. We’ll also eat at village restaurants on a couple of nights. Lunch is included when we visit Velez de Benaudalla and on our visit to the white-washed villages on Day 7, but other lunches are not included. Picnic lunches can be bought from local shops in the village, or a stop will be made at a cafe or restaurant.

ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
We operate a ‘leave no trace’ policy in national parks, archaeological sites, monuments, and other sensitive areas like beaches and coastlines; these should be treated with the ultimate respect to maintain them for future generations. Our tour leaders are trained to promote this message to our customers during the vacation.

Highlights in the Sierra Nevada Natural Park and visits to places like the Alhambra are balanced with walking and local experiences, supporting a more sustainable, eco-friendly style of travel.

We provide ample opportunity to explore the local areas on foot, where you can shop for local wares and crafts and immerse yourselves in the rich cultural heritage of the destination. To enhance your experience, as well as your tour leader, each vacation will be accompanied by a well-qualified and knowledgeable English-speaking local guide.

In addition to great walking on this tour, we'll visit the local sites of interest, absorb the natural beauty of our surroundings, and enjoy local customs and history. These experience-rich itineraries are designed to suit those whose interests have a focus on sightseeing and history. You'll see spectacular landscapes while visiting the classic sites, as well as discovering the quirky and lesser-known sites along the trail. On this vacation, you will experience a guided visit to Granada's historic quarter as well as entrance to the Alhambra Palace and Generalife Gardens. You also get the chance to sample some locally produced beer and cheeses.

Hotel Alcadima is a charming property set in the white-washed spa town of Lanjarón, right on the edge of the Sierra Nevada Natural Park. Surrounded by gardens and mountain scenery, it offers a relaxed, traditional Andalusian atmosphere. With its garden setting and smaller, family-run nature, you can enjoy a lower-impact, more local style of hospitality. The hotel has an on-site restaurant, and in Spain it’s generally easy to find vegetarian options (like salads, grilled vegetables, tortillas, etc.). Vegan choices may be more limited unless requested, but many hotels are accommodating if you notify them in advance. Additionally, Lanjarón itself has a variety of cafés and eateries, with plant-based options increasingly available.
