Ecuador is a lovely country and well worth spending a week there before heading to the Galapagos.

Planet
During trekking activities, fresh local produce is purchased where appropriate. Local products are preferred to imported goods, including the use of Andean ingredients in the cooking.Waste is reduced by using products with minimal packaging, avoiding litter and keeping water sources clean. Campsites are left clean after use, and rubbish is carried out of trekking areas.
People
The trip is operated in partnership with a locally based tour operator in Ecuador.Staff are recruited locally and have detailed knowledge of the area. Guides provide informal talks and discussions about aspects of local life, helping visitors develop an understanding of the region and the people who live there. The trip also supports the local economy by using local transport and, where possible, locally owned and managed accommodation and restaurants.
