Do some research into precisely what's offered on each trip - the Red Centre tour wasn't exactly what was predicted.
Local benefits?
Yes, except for Red Centre tour, which relied a lot on Aboriginal culture and settings, but seemed to involve no indigenous people.

Traveling along the Ocean Drive road and thanks to Pierre, our guide and driver, showing us places and providing loads of interesting information, which we would never have had doing the trip between Melbourne and Adelaide on our own.

Having a very close encounter with a baby koala, rescued from the main road by our driver/guide Jeremy. Although his mum was up a tree nearby, after sitting at the bottom and thinking about it, he decided to head back towards the road, so
we travelers blocked his path. He came right to my feet and sat down!! Very special moment I will never forget.

Sue and I had a wonderful time on this 8 Day Self Guided Great Ocean Walk. This was our first trip with the vacation provider and our first trip to Australia. We live in Seattle, Washington, USA and are looking forward to returning and doing more trips with vacation provider , which we highly recommend.

The best parts of the vacation were walking in the National Parks, such as near Cradle Mountain in Tasmania. We also enjoyed the art galleries and museums
in Melbourne.
Tips?
Australia is huge so you can spend a lot of time driving, although roads are good they can be slow in hilly districts. Many outdoor activities are free so do not purchase expensive excursions without shopping around and considering alternatives. Eating out and drinking can be expensive and... (more)Howard Lawes
