Our company was established in 2000 and since the beginning the basic business idea of our company is to offer the tourist a range of products which are in concordance with Finnish nature. Our tours include unmotorized activities like hiking, skiing, snowshoeing and canoeing and a well-balanced connection with nature is the foundation of all our operations.

Our group sizes are small (on this tour max 12 persons) and we believe that being in a small group causes less harm for the environment – and it is also more comfortable for the traveler.

In our purchases, we are committed to preferring durable, locally produced, high-quality products. Disposable products are avoided as far as possible. Ecologically sound products are acquired whenever possible.

We encourage our clients to show consideration for the environment. We always ensure that all litter is removed from any of our activity sites and it is recycled for as much as possible. The adequacy of environmental activities is regularly assessed by means of collecting customer feedback and studying key parameters.

Transfers from/to airport are included in our tours. Public transport is low in our sparsely populated area so we need to organize charters. To keep the emissions as low as possible we use vehicles according to the group size, eg. not transport a small group on a big bus. Transfers are always organized from the airport nearest to the destination. Many of our tours include also a couple of transfers inside the program. We try to keep them as short as possible and use appropriate vehicles.

On this tour you stay in log cabins. Wood is a responsible choice as a building material. It is renewable as well as recyclable resource supporting sustainable development. Even if Finnish forests are cut down continuously, the amount of timber in Finnish forests is now bigger that in the 1970s.

People

Our tours take place in sparsely populated, remote border area from where many people, especially young , are forced to move out due to lack of work. By bringing visitors and organizing tours we are bringing more welfare for local people. Our company does not own any hotel, restaurant or vehicles for transportation and we buy all these services from the local suppliers. The accommodation suppliers, restaurants, husky farmers and taxi companies are all small, locally owned businesses and benefit directly from our tours. Our company is also small with only two fulltime employees.

The food is local for as much as possible - fish, reindeer meat, elk and berries.
Also the guides are locals for as much as possible. Approximately 70% of the income goes for the local businesses and guides.

The land and the cabins used on this tour are maintained by the Forest and Park Service of Finland and we pay funds for them which they use for maintaining the area and the fireplaces, open huts and other services in the area which local people are using also.

When selecting co-operation partners, preference is given to those having an environmental policy. In addition, subcontractors are informed of the firm's purchases policy.
